OSFB Seeking Board Members

The Ocean Shores Food Bank is governed by an active and engaged board of directors, all of whom live in Ocean Shores. The board oversees the Executive Director and strives to continually maintain OSFB’s long-term success.

Our vision statement core values are all part of our boards’ 5-year Strategic Plan which guides our long-term focus and gives direction to the OMG’s daily decisions. Briefly, OSFB’s core values include compassion, service innovation, partnerships, and accountability.

More than 60 volunteers donate over thousands of hours of their time, not only to provide food, but hope, compassion, and respect to more than hundreds households each month. These households are made up of over a thousand infants, children, adults, and seniors.
When we all work together, neighbors helping neighbors, no one is turned away, and no one goes hungry.

The board meets once a month on the third Wednesday in the meeting room at the Ocean Shores Public Library. Meetings commence at 2 p.m. and run to 4 p.m. If you would like to see the board in action, just stop by!

The Ocean Shores Food Bank is looking for a few talented and conscientious volunteer board members to lead and strengthen the community organization.  We are looking for people
who would want to serve (either on the board or as a volunteer to the board) in one of these four areas:

  • Marketing / Community Promoter type person: This person would have a passion for helping reduce food insecurity and a passion for helping Ocean Shores businesses to thrive through a marketing partnership with OSFB at our community events.  The person’s skill set would be in marketing and work with local businesses and churches/clubs.

  • Dreamer / Service Definer type person:  This person would look for services OSFB can
offer to see that local food-insecure households have a food safety net, as well as a way
out of food insecurity. The person’s skill set would be in designing, bring to programs/services to market, and understanding the infrastructure needs of guests, volunteers, and suppliers to OSFB.

  • Guardian / Searcher type person: This person would monitor OSFB's financial strength and look for ways to share our strong books with potential grantor organizations to secure funds for us to help reduce food insecurity in our local community.

  • Storyteller / Communicator type person: This person would help spread OSFB stories of how we help those in need to those that can help financially to reduce food insecurity in our community.  The person would communicate with local and non-local individual donors via Facebook/Web/newspapers/radio.
