Estate Planning Gifts
Leave a Legacy of Helping Alleviate Hunger
OSFB encourages you to make a gift to the Food Bank through your will, life insurance policy or other resources. It’s our effort to inspire you to think about how you might continue to help our hungry neighbors far into the future.
Many good gift planning techniques are available, and you can choose the type of gift which best suits your needs. They take many forms and may include personal bequests, IRA contributions and retirement plans, stocks and other securities, real estate, and life insurance. In choosing to make a special gift like this to the Ocean Shores Food Bank, we suggest you get advice from your financial/tax adviser or attorney.
A provision in your will (a bequest) is often the most realistic way for many donors to make a significant contribution to OSFB. In addition to cash, you may also leave stocks, bonds, and other types of property.
Tax Benefit of Donating Stocks/Bonds:
Donating stocks and mutual funds can bring you tax benefits while helping fill our food insecure neighbors. You can designate OSFB as the beneficiary of your stocks, bonds, mutual funds, IRA, and more. This type of gift can be especially appealing if you are holding shares that have appreciated significantly in value but yield a low dividend.
With a gift of securities, you pay no capital gains taxes and may be able to deduct the full fair market value of appreciated stocks or mutual funds held longer than one year.
Talk to your financial/tax adviser to learn more about this great way to fight hunger.
Plan To Give:
You can name OSFB as a beneficiary on life insurance, retirement plans, and savings accounts. This is the simplest way to make a legacy gift to OSFB. When you complete your beneficiary designation form, just name OSFB as a full or partial beneficiary and provide our tax identification number. You don’t even need an attorney to make this kind of gift.

Per the OSFB Articles of Incorporation, only human food may be purchased with (general) donated funds. However, if you wish to donate funds for pet food, please indicate that and we will designate those funds for pet food.
